Trilby Panama (Semi-bleached) with Navy Detail Band
A Panama hat is defined by its weave. The finest are produced by hand in Ecuador — the only place in the world where the toquilla straw grows in the conditions required to achieve the pliability and fineness that make a true Panama unmistakable. Christys' Trilby Panama is woven there, from a Grade 1 hood, before being shaped and finished in England to the standard the brand has maintained since 1773.
The silhouette is a trilby — a tapered crown with a short, turned-up brim that sits close to the head and travels well. It is a form that has been worn confidently since the early twentieth century and shows no sign of dating. The semi-bleached finish gives the straw a warm, natural tone — neither stark white nor untreated, but settled somewhere between the two, with a depth that improves as the hat acquires the particular character of its owner.
A navy detail band encircles the crown, providing a clean point of contrast against the pale straw. Navy is the most considered choice for a hat of this character — present enough to give the hat definition, restrained enough to sit beside almost any summer wardrobe without effort.
Available in sizes M, L and XL, this is a handmade piece. Each hat is made individually to order and should be allowed up to seven working days before despatch. Personalisation is not available on this style.
