Fur Felt Dressage Hat

In the dressage arena, every detail is observed. The cut of the coat, the set of the gloves, the line of the hat against the crown of the head — all of it is visible, and all of it is noted. The Christys' Fur Felt Dressage Top Hat is made for riders who understand that, and who choose their equipment accordingly.

Where the Christys' Wool Felt Dressage Hat offers an excellent foundation for competition wear, the Fur Felt goes further. Fur felt produces a surface of considerably greater refinement — denser in structure, smoother to the touch and capable of achieving the high polish that distinguishes a truly serious dressage hat from a merely adequate one. The difference is apparent at a distance and unmistakable up close.

Made in England, the hat is blocked to a tall, precise crown — the geometry that the arena demands and that only correct blocking achieves. The brim sits level and true. A 2.5cm grosgrain ribbon encircles the base of the crown, neat and flat, finished with a black bow that provides a clean, sharp point of definition. Inside, the hat is fully lined to the standard expected of a piece worn seriously and repeatedly.

Three colourways are offered. Black is correct for affiliated competition and the natural first choice for the arena. Navy carries a quieter authority, appropriate for training and unaffiliated events where a degree of individual expression is permitted. Brown is the most distinctive of the three — unconventional in the arena, and worn with the particular confidence of a rider who has nothing left to prove.
