Wool Felt Dressage Hat
Dressage demands a particular kind of hat. The silhouette must be precise, the crown proportioned correctly and the finish composed enough to withstand scrutiny at close range — from judges, from peers and from the mirror before the test begins. The Christys' Wool Felt Dressage Hat is made to meet those standards, produced in England from a fine wool felt that holds its line under the pressure of serious wear.
The crown stands at 4¼ inches — the traditional height for a dressage hat, tall enough to carry authority in the arena without tipping into excess. It is blocked to maintain its geometry across repeated use, remaining true in shape whether the hat is worn twice a season or twice a week. The brim sits flat and level, finished with a 2.5cm grosgrain ribbon that encircles the crown cleanly, meeting at the back in a bow that is matched precisely to the colourway — black ribbon and bow on the Black hat, and corresponding tones on Navy and Brown.
Inside, the hat is fully lined — a considered finish that speaks to the standard of construction throughout. Comfort in the saddle over a long schooling session or a competition day is not incidental; it is built in from the pattern stage.
Three colourways are offered. Black is the arena standard — correct for affiliated competition and unmistakable in purpose. Navy offers a subtler distinction, appropriate for training and unaffiliated competition. Brown is the least conventional of the three and the most individual — worn with the confidence of a rider who knows exactly what they are doing.
